Dance Attire Required By South Carolina Dance Company

All students are required to wear the appropriate dance attire to class. No jewelry or street clothing are allowed in any class. All jazz/ballet shoes should be fitted with no more than half a thumb’s length of growing room. Dance shoes are meant to fit snug, not like regular shoes. Tap shoes are allowed to have a full thumbs length of growing room. No jewelry or street clothing is allowed in any class, for safety reasons.

SCDC Dress Code Requirements

Terrific Twos and Combination Classes:

Black or pink leotard with pink tights. Skirts are allowed. Or tight fitting tank tops, sports bras, or crop tops with leggings or booty shorts are permitted. If Combination class includes tap, please wear tights or send socks with your child weekly. Hair must be pulled back securely away from the face.

Ballet Classes (ALL Levels):

Black leotard and pink tights. No skirts are allowed. If you choose to wear a sports bra, it must be solid back. Hair must be pulled back in a tight and secure bun with bobby pins and a hair net. All Ballet students are required to wear Hanami Leather Ballet shoe Style 2038W ballet shoes. 

Jazz, Acro, Ballet, Lyrical, Tap, & Hip Hop/Tot Hop (ALL Levels): 

Tight fitting tank tops, sports bras, or crop tops with leggings or booty shorts are permitted. No loose or baggy clothing and not jeans, please! Hair must be pulled back securely away from the face.

SCDC Dance Shoe Requirements

Jazz (All Levels) – Tan Bloch Neoflex Jazz shoes (If smaller than a size 10, Bloch Super Jazz are permitted)

Acro – barefoot

Ballet (Levels I-IV) – Bloch Pink Leather Split Sole Ballet Shoes – all Ballet students must wear Hanami Leather Ballet shoe Style 2038W ballet shoes.  Tights 

Lyrical (All Levels) – Angelo Luzio Body Wrappers Lyrical Shoes

Contemporary (All Levels) – barefoot, socks, or Angelo Luzio Body Wrappers Lyrical Shoes

Tap (All Levels) – Capezio Black CG17 or Bloch Black SO388L

Hip Hop/Tot Hop (All Levels) – Any sneakers are allowed. Specific shoes will be communicated closer to recital time. Shoes must be worn for this class

Combination Classes 

*Tights aren’t required, but please make sure your dancer wear socks. Tights and shoes will be specified by each instructor by October. 

Ballet: Pink Leather ballet shoes – please don’t purchase Target or Walmart Ballet Shoes. Well-heeled has a great selection of ballet shoes. We require split sole leather ballet shoes. 

Tap: Black patent leather tap shoes

Jazz: Bloch tan jazz shoes

Tumbling: barefoot
